Meet BluegrassMoms' Coordinators
Heather Chapman, right, writer of parenting blog The Mother Tongue, is a Herald-Leader news assistant with two young children and a husband who plays the drums. Her house is very loud. In her infrequent spare time, she confesses a fondness for knitting, calligraphy, and all things geeky.
Feature writer Mary Meehan has been a reporter for more than 20 years and a mother for nearly 10. She's still trying, in vain mostly, to perfect both skills. A single mom who lives in Georgetown, she's part-time potter, a full-time knitter, an occasional gardener, an avid fan of HGTV and a reluctant expert on Hannah Montana.

My ghost story - 120 views
Since today is Halloween, I thought I would share with you a story about my first and (so far) only ghost sighting. When my father died in 1992, I went right out to Las Vegas, where he and my mother lived. One day before the funeral, I was sitting in the kitchen catching up on my soaps when one of my mother’s friends came by with some food. She had more stuff in her trunk so I (sighing because I was missing... - read more

Mommy made some tuna fish salad this week and let the boy help out. In our house, tuna fish salad is just tuna, eggs and Miracle Whip (She hates pickles. I’ve tried to get pickles in. It’s a no-go). The boy will eat just about anything once, unlike his sister. Sister approaches all food with extreme scrutiny. Tuna fish would never make it. So Mommy lets the boy sample, and he likes.... - read more

After 26 years on the air Reading Rainbow will cease to be shown on PBS. Both of my kids enjoyed the show immensely and it was one of the few shows they watched that I also enjoyed. Even though I think it’s tragic that the show is being pulled that isn’t the part the disheartened me. I realize that TV shows ebb and flow and nothing lasts forever (well except maybe Sesame Street!).... - read more
